Proposed Heritage Campus Development

Building Rendering | Bears Ranch | Durango, Colorado

The first phase of development will establish the foundations of the Home of the Brave Heritage Campus.

Planned elements include:

• The Home of the Brave Museum building
• Outdoor historical exhibits and military artifacts
• Veteran memorial spaces
• Educational programming and storytelling events
• Community gathering areas for commemorations and public events
• Western ranch experiences that connect visitors to the landscape

The campus will become a destination where history, remembrance, and community come together in the American West.

Current Development

Project feasibility and pre-application phases are complete. The Home of the Brave Heritage Campus is now advancing through the county’s Preliminary Plan submission process.

The next phase includes required civil engineering, environmental and geotechnical studies, surveying, water and hydrogeological analysis, and full architectural documentation. These steps represent critical infrastructure investments necessary for long-term approval and sustainable development.

Upon preliminary approval, final planning, architectural drawings, compliance review, and building permit processes will proceed. A structured contingency allocation is also incorporated.
